Have your say: on the updates to the National Mental Health Statement of Rights and Responsibilities
In November 2010, the Mental Health Standing Committee endorsed a limited review of the Mental Health Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, 1991. The review aims to update the Statement to reflect contemporary legislation and modern concepts of care, treatment, rehabilitation and recovery.
NSW CAG would like to get feedback from mental health consumers on the new draft National Mental Health Statement:
- Is the Statement clear? Are the rights and responsibilities easy to understand?
- Are the rights and responsibilities relevant to current mental health practices?
- Is there a good balance between the rights and responsibilities of people with mental illness and the rights and responsibilities of the people who support them, such as carers, families, and mental health professionals?
- Does the statement cover the right issues?
- Is anything missing?
The draft Statement is available
