Code of Professional Standards
This survey aims to develop a basic understanding of:
- The educational courses that have already been undertaken by the consumer workforce;
- Areas that consumer workers would like to be educated in; and,
- Courses that should be provided to all consumer workers as a minimum during their employment.
Also included in this survey is an opportunity for people to provide their feedback on the development of a Code of Professional Standards for the NSW Mental Health Consumer Workforce.
All information provided in this survey will be of assistance in creating the framework for the consumer workforce in NSW.
Part A looks at the Minimum and Best Practice Training. Part B looks at creating a Code of Professional Standards. To assist in answering Part B you will need to have read the Code of Professional Standards for the NSW Mental Health Consumer Workforce. This can be found here.

Part A: Minimum and Best Practice Training
Developing guidelines for minimum and best practice training for the consumer workforce provides a basis for all Local Health Networks to develop their own standards when employing consumer workers within their mental health services. Guidelines should be developed and based on a set of core values reflecting social justice and equity principles.
